Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Treatment:

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) applies both psychological and social therapeutic applications to address unhelpful or irrational thought patterns.  These thought patterns cause maladaptive behavior, and can result in impulsive or inappropriate responses.  CBT is a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that works to replace these unhelpful processes with healthy behaviors and thoughts.

In practice, this process generally provides clients with specific techniques and practice to positively alter the way to which the brain’s functioning is accustomed.  Homework and processing between sessions generally increases the forward movement of therapy.  Particularly, CBT is effective for depression, dissociative identity disorder , eating disorders, generalized anxiety disorder , hypochondriasis , insomnia , obsessive-compulsive disorder , and panic disorder.  However, this modality can be helpful to a wide range of disorders.
